The SnapTwist is available in either translucent polypropylene or opaque polyethylene. This vial can be used for liquid scintillation counting, gamma counting, chromatography, storage of samples, and culturing. The SnapTwist fits nicely into the LKB or Packard Varisette counters. This vial has a full width opening of 12.5 mm. The vials can be sealed securely just by snapping the caps on; however the removal of the cap requires a ¼ turn. These lids are easily manipulated, which helps to eliminate the danger of spillage. These vials have a build-in positive lock that prevents the cap from popping off if there is a small pressure buildup in the vial. The quality of the sealing system on the SnapTwist vial is such that it makes it unnecessary to tighten the closure with pressure to ensure a leakproof seal.
