Product Spotlight - Crimpers & Decappers

Crimpers and decappers can be used to safely and conveniently close and open the aluminum seals on test tubes, vials, and laboratory bottles when uniform pressure is applied around the opening. Crimpers create a complete seal, while decappers remove the seal with no damage to the containers. SKS Science provides a full range of manual and automatic crimping and decapping options to improve accuracy, reduce hand fatigue, and increase ease of use.

Crimpers

Crimpers
The E-Z Crimpers provide an easy, manual way to crimp aluminum seals onto various test tubes and vials with a secure fit. Short, ergonomic handles reduce strain from repetitive long-term use of the crimpers. A clip is included to keep the crimpers in the closed position when stored. Choose compatible aluminum seal OD sizes from 13 mm to 30 mm, with seal types including Flip-Cap, Standard, and Uni-Dose.

Crimpers
Wheaton E-Z Crimpers™
have several features to reduce hand fatigue for accurate and continual crimping. The short ergonomic handles include cushioning and spring assembly to reduce hand fatigue. Adjustable stops allow users to modify the tightness of the crimpers to maintain constant and even crimping. The jaws of the Wheaton E-Z Crimpers™ are tapered and polished to allow for convenient use with vials in a racking system. The size of each Wheaton E-Z Crimpers™ is printed on its side for easy identification. For an additional seal, the 11 mm crimpers include a plunger insert for top vial crimping. Wheaton E-Z Crimpers™ are autoclavable at 121° C. Autoclaving may change the appearance and/or reduce product life.

Decappers

DecappersThe steel decapper pliers are compatible with either 13 mm or 20 mm aluminum seals. The steel handles include a plastic coating to create a better grip while in use.

To remove an aluminum seal, clasp the seal between the jaws of the decapper, squeeze, and twist the seal off of the container.

Decappers
The Wheaton™ E-Z decappers are highly user-friendly with many features for comfort and convenience. The decapper handles are short, ergonomically designed, padded, and spring assembled. Available in 8 mm to 20 mm sizes, each of the Wheaton™ E-Z decappers has its size labeled on the handles for quick identification. These decappers are compatible with laboratory vials and bottles with crimp or serum finishes paired with standard aluminum seals.

Semi & Fully Automatic Crimpers and Decappers

Semi & Fully Automatic Crimpers and Decappers
Semi-Automatic air crimpers are available in a ready-to-use set compatible with 11 mm, 13 mm, and 20 mm vials and bottles with aluminum seals. The air crimper sets include a crimper in the chosen size, a foot valve mounted on a base plate, and connecting tubing and fittings packaged in a sturdy PE case.

The air crimpers operate on an air supply of 45 to 60 psi, automatically align containers with the aluminum seals to reduce partially crimped seals, and sit on a durable metal base with non-skid rubber feet.

Semi & Fully Automatic Crimpers and Decappers
The Crimpenstein Automatic Crimpers and Decappers are versatile and are available with various attachments and stands to meet your specific laboratory needs. The Crimpenstein has an adjustable jaw intensity with built-in memory to regulate uniformity in crimping and decapping large sets of crimp or serum topped vials, bottles, and test tubes paired with aluminum seals. Compatible with interchangeable crimper and decapper jaws, the Crimpenstein eliminates the need for multiple crimpers and decappers, which allows for greater flexibility in matching the necessary size to crimp or decap as needed. Sold separately is a sturdy stand that holds the Crimpenstein in a vertical position for placement while transferring from one set of containers to the next.

Semi & Fully Automatic Crimpers and Decappers
Crimpmaster stations are a semi-automatic option for hand crimpers and decappers. The Crimpmaster stations require just 25 to 40 psi of air pressure supplied by compressed air cylinders or a standard in-house air supply.

Setup is straightforward: insert the manual crimp or decappers, adjust the air pressure for the desired tightness, and then depress the foot switch to perform the crimping or decapping.
