Common scales specifications and terms explained: Maximum Capacity: This is the maximum weight a scale can tolerate. If the weight is exceeded during operation (and even when shut-off) the load cell (see below) can be damaged.

Accuracy (or Readability): Sometimes referred to as resolution. This establishes how accurate the scale is, because of it's ability to read the most minute weight. In other words, the scale's smallest measurable weight. For example, 0.002g Accuracy: 0.002, 0.004, 0.006, 0.008, 0.010, 0.012... OR 0.05 Accuracy: 0.05, 0.10, 0.15, 0.20, 0.25, 0.30, 0.35, 0.40, 0.45, 0.50...

Load Cell (or Strain Gauge): The load cell is essentially the heart of any scale. These series of sensors convert the asserted weight to electrical signals for digital calculations.

Repeatability: This refers to a scale's consistency to repeatedly measure the same weights respectively while zeroing after each measurement.
